Mobile learning (M-learning) refers to the use of mobile devices — smartphones, tablets, and handheld technologies — to facilitate learning anytime, anywhere. With the rapid proliferation of mobile technology across India, including in rural and semi-urban areas of Tamil Nadu, mobile learning has emerged as a powerful force for democratising access to quality education and extending learning beyond the physical boundaries of the school or college.

For teacher education, mobile learning is both a research topic and a practical skill.
