School Internship Programme
The School Internship Programme is one of the most vital components of the B.Ed. curriculum at Kaliammal College of Education. The internship provides student-teachers with structured, supervised classroom teaching experience in affiliated secondary and higher secondary schools in and around Karur. It bridges the gap between theoretical learning and professional practice, equipping student-teachers to function effectively as teachers from day one of their careers.
Conducted in two phases spread across the second and third semesters, the internship involves lesson planning, classroom teaching, observation, reflective journaling, and interaction with school staff, students, and parents. Faculty supervisors from the college visit intern schools regularly to provide mentoring, feedback, and professional guidance.

Lesson Planning
Student-teachers prepare detailed lesson plans, unit plans, and resource materials under faculty guidance before and during each internship teaching session.
Classroom Teaching
Direct classroom teaching practice in the intern school, supervised by school mentors and college faculty, with opportunities to handle multiple classes and subject levels.
Observation & Reflection
Structured classroom observation followed by reflective analysis recorded in internship journals, helping student-teachers evaluate and continuously improve their teaching practice.
School-Based Tasks
Participation in school routines, parent meetings, co-curricular activities, and administrative tasks to develop a comprehensive understanding of the teacher’s professional role.
